Kingarth - Island of Bute
Does not appear to be registered on UKNIM

The Kingarth war memorial is a dressed grey granite celtic cross with wheel-head and a celtic knotwork patter carved in relief on the face. The commemoration and names of the dead are listed in black lead lettering on the faces of the low tapering pedestal which rests on a rustic granite plinth.
The monument stands in a small garden surrounded by a rail on a junction on the main road, the A844, about a mile north of the village.

Lt.-Col. Lord Ninan Edward Crichton-Stuart (15 May 1883 2 October 1915) was a son of John Crichton-Stuart, 3rd Marquess of Bute and Hon. Gwendolen Mary Anne Fitzalan-Howard.

Educated at Harrow School and Oxford, he was commissioned in 1903 into the 3rd Battalion of the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders and then served for two years in 1st Battalion Scots Guards.

Married the Hon. Ismay Preston in 1906 and left the army after his marriage to concentrate on politics. In 1907 he was adopted as the Unionist candidate for the United Boroughs of Cardiff, Cowbridge and Llantrisant. Lost the election to D.A. Thomas in January 1910 but was successful in winning back the seat in the December 1910 election. Took command of the 6th Welsh Battalion in 1912; he died during World War I in 1915.

There is a statue in Memory of Lord Ninian situated in Gorsedd Gardens, Cardiff. Sculpted by William Goscombe John (1860-1952).

Ninian Park, the famous old football ground in Cardiff, is named after Lord Ninian.

Missing Names from the other side of the monument:
Pte. J. McKenzie, A&SH 1917
Pte. A. Ferguson, A&SH 1917
Sgt. D. Boag, PPLCI 1917
Pte. J. McCabe, London Irish 1917
Piper D. Ferguson, Canadians 1918
Pte. W. Stewart, North Staffordshires 1918
Pte J. Dempsie, RS 1918
Lt. F. Saunders, A&SH 1918
L. Cpl. D. Black, MM, Canadians 1918
Pte. D. Lamont, RSF 1918

This monument, obviously well maintained, is in a very rural area. It is somewhat near Mount Stuart, home of Lord Bute, which may account for it's lovely maintenance. (Just a guess.)
I hope this helps.
