An article in the Jan/Feb 2019 issue of "History Scotland" explores why their is no war memorial at the NRS. One of the reasons, it argues, is that NRS' two historic buildings, General Register House and New Register House, were home to eighteen departments and about 300 staff. The biggest deaprtments in General Register House were the sassines office and the register of deeds and protests. In New Register House next door was the general register of births, marriages and deaths.

According to the article, NRS is compiling an on-line roll of honour and is seeking suggestions of names from, as yet, unidentified men [and, I guess, women!]. I have tried to find this draft roll of honour but have been, so far, unsuccessful.

One fatality is named in the article, a Charles Whitehead Yule, assistant curator of historical records, who lost his life as a Captian in the 13th Royal Scots on 11 May 1916.

If anyone does find the draft roll, perhaps they could post a link on this thread. and we can see what help we can offer.
