Listed on the Kirkintilloch Memorial:-
Thomas Hutchison McMillan was born in Hamburg Cottages, Waterside, Kirkintilloch in 1888 to parents John McMillan and Margaret Hutchison.
He was a reservist with his regiment and had seen service in India and was working as a coal miner in Kirkintilloch in 1914 before being called up.
Thomas was a sergeant S/N 19170 with the 12th Batt. H.L.I. and was reported as missing and later reported as having been killed in action on 25th Sept 1915 at the Battle of Loos. He served with C-Coy and was reported killed in action by Pte A. Montgomerie who returned to duty after being wounded on 25th Sept., 1915 and thereby reported Thomas` death.
Thomas is commemorated in the Loos Memorial, Plate 108-112.

His brother Archibald Buchanan McMillan is also listed on the Kirkintilloch Memorial. He served as a Pte. with 11 Batt. A & S.H. S/N 8864. Archie was killed in action on 20th April 1918 in France and was buried in Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun, Pas de Calais, grave VG33.
Archie was born in Reid Place, Kirkintilloch in 1893 and was employed as a plasterer with J&A Williamson before enlisting. He also played some football with Croy Celtic, Rob Roy, Celtic and Ayr Utd.

Flt.Sgt.(pilot) John Reid McMillan 986831 (V.R.) died 28 Dec 1943 aged 32. Son of Thomas Hutchison McMillan and Agnes McMillan of Edinburgh, husband of Rebecca McMillan of Edinburgh. He was buried at Irvinestown War Cemetery, Co.Fermanagh, N.Ireland in Plot 2 Grave 41. He was born in Newington, Edinburgh in 1911.

I have yet to uncover if he is listed on any War Memorial.
