I have posted photos of this before (by accident when I was posting the Cornets Club memorial) but I thought that it deserved its own entry so I went back with a brush and some water to make the inscription readable and took some fresh photos.

There is a plaque (inscription below) and behind it an inscribed flagpole base (inscription below). The stone behind the flagpole base is the Cornets Club memorial.

All are in Castledykes Park, Dumfries at OS Map Ref: NT 260 020.

Not listed on UKNIWM.

I wonder what was bolted on top of the memorial stone?

The flagpole (and flag) were replaced in 2009, there is a new plaque on the top face to that effect.
