Brass plaque to Alexander Marjoribanks, Captain and Adjutant of the 52nd Sikhs and, latterly, Wing Commander of the North Waziristan Militia. Killed at Datta Khel, India, 28th September, 1914.

Alexander Marjoribanks – age 35 – Captain/Adjutant, 52nd Sikhs (Frontier Force) attached to the North Waziristan Militia Military Police and Levies
Alexander was commissioned from the Royal Military College to the Indian Staff Corps in January 1900. He was promoted to Lieutenant in April 1901 and served in the Somaliland (1902-4), and Mohmand (1908) Expeditions. He became a Captain in the 52nd Sikhs in January 1909. Alexander died of cholera at Datta Khel, India and was buried there but his grave was lost.
Born 1879 at the Manse, Stenton. Son of the Rev. George Marjoribanks and Elizabeth (Leslie) Marjoribanks of The Manse, Stenton,
