Hi all, this plain memorial remembers the former scouts of Arbroath who died in the second world war.

It sits on scout grounds midway down Keptie Street between Kaims croft and the college buildings.

JAMES SMITH - (Not in Gazette)
CLARENCE GAULDIE - R.A.F. Pilot Officer. Killed on active service. 28th Angus (3rd Arbroath) Group.
DAVID BRAND - RAF. Sergeant Air Gunner. Killed in action. 2nd Arbroath Group.
ALEXANDER GRANT - RAF. Sergeant Pilot. 1st Arbroath Group.
THOMAS ROBERTSON - RAF. Sergeant Air Gunner. Killed on active service. 27th Angus (2nd Arbroath) Group.
LESLIE SMITH - RAF. Sergeant Pilot. Aged 23 years. Killed in action over enemy territory, August 1941. 5th Arbroath Group.
RONALD HAMPTON - Royal Navy Reserve. Lieutenant. Killed on active service. 3rd Arbroath Group.
JAMES MANSON - Royal Army Medical Corps. Captain. Aged 25 years. Killed at Dunkirk in May/June 1940. 3rd Arbroath (28th Angus) Group.
CLEMENT CRAIG - (Not in Gazette)
EDWARD COLVILLE - Merchant Navy. Captain. Lost at sea. 2nd Arbroath Group.
JAMES DEAR - Merchant Navy. Lost at sea. 4th Arbroath Group.

DUNCAN BROWN - Royal Artillery. Lance Bombardier. Killed on active service. 35th Angus Group.
ALFRED FLORENCE - Royal Navy. Chief Engineer. Lost at sea. 3rd Arbroath Group.
ANDREW WHITTON - (Not in Gazette)
JOHN THOMSON - Merchant Navy. Fifth Engineer. Aged 20 years. Lost at sea, 9th April 1943. 5th Arbroath Group.
WILLIAM SCOTT - RAF. Sergeant Pilot. Killed on active service. 3rd Arbroath Group.
THOMAS YOUNG - (Not in Gazette)
ANTHONY STEWART - (Not in Gazette)
ALEXANDER SCOTT - (Not in Gazette)
FRED FORBES - Royal Artillery. Lieutenant. Aged 34 years. 37th Angus (5th Arbroath) Group
RONALD CLARK - Royal Navy. Leading Seaman. Lost at sea. 4th Arbroath Group
IAN TOCHER - Army. Lieutenant. Killed in action. 5th Arbroath Group.

This war memorial for the WW2 Scouts is oiutside their Base in arbroath .

Listed in the roll of honour abroath and district 1939-1945 page 72 with a photo of him in his Black watch uniform . worked on hsi fathers farm at Denfield arbroath and served in the Black Watch TA and mobilised in 1939 serving wth the 5st Highland Div ,. Killed in action
