The memorial which relates to this post is the one on the bottom. The plaque above relates to the former free church which I will post in a separate thread later.
You will see that is states 'THIS TABLET AND THE CHURCH BELL COMMEMORATE'. The church pamphlet states "The bell was installed in 1924 as a memorial to the men of the congregation who died in the First World War".
I did get the beadle to show me the access to the bell tower but I'm afraid for health and safety reasons I wasn't going to attempt it!! |
