Formerly 3012 Scottish Horse, 5197 1/6th RH, 267214 1/7RH

The Perthshire Advertiser 29/12/1915.
Home From Gallipoli - Lance Corporal James Fergusson of the 1/1st Scottish Horse has just returned home to his friend's residence at The Shop Ballinluig for six weeks furlough. Lance Corporal Fergusson contracted enteric fever while serving with the 1/1st Scottish Horse at Sulva Bay in Gallipoli whence he went with the regiment in August. He was first transferred to a hospital in Malta and from there to a Sheffield hospital.....

The Perthshire Advertiser 10/10/1917.
Official intimation has reached Ballinluig that Private James Fergusson, attached Black Watch, has died of wounds received in action about a week ago, when he was officially reported as dangerously wounded. Private Fergusson, who was a Territorial, was mobilised with the Scottish Horse. He served in the Gallipoli Campaign from which he was invalided home with fever. H was drafted to France early this year where he took part in several engagements...........He was 31 years old and unmarried.

an extra bit from 3/10/1917 reporting his wounding:

He went to France in August last (1916) and was again invalided home in the spring of this year suffering from the effects of the trouble contracted in the East. He went to France again in June of this year................

[This probably explains the transfer from the 6th to 7th Battalions?]

Place, Line at Ypres, September 19th 1917, 267214 Pte Ferguson J, Wounded And his Company was 'A' Company
