Cheers

Not powerpoint, I just put all the photos into a folder at 800 X 600 resolution and used the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. I have that as default for jpg, double click on the first in the album and use the forward and back buttons - greater control than powerpoint if you don't mind the controls at top and bottom of the page.
BTW, I have another speaking engagement in January, half an hour at the local Women's Rural on 'War Memorials in the Glenkens'. With a bit of luck, they will be able to tell me a lot I don't know as well - Q&A session at the end and I will take notes.

A talk at the local WRI. I'll be interested to hear how that goes.

I am going to base it on my school talk which was 10 minutes then a few seconds on each of the 27 memorials (with slide) and a few minutes on war graves in the area. Fortunately we have some of everything around here in the way of memorials, furniture, plaques, windows, books etc.
Will let you know how it goes

Gave my talk tonight (about 45 minutes) on the subject 'War Memorials of the Glenkens' about 20 WRI members attended plus Sandy Hall who co-authored the Glencairn Memorial book. I used a laptop and projector.
contents......................
video of reading of 'in Flanders fields' - poets family originally local
intro to memorials and war graves
slide and brief description of each of the 30 war memorials and their history with special mentions of Balmaclellan crimea memorial and carsphairn spitfire (yet to be posted)
bit about location, design, materials, CWGC, women, criteria for inclusion, access to Murray memorial and anything else that came to mind
featured history on one name from each of 4 civic memorials (one officer, one soldier, one woman and one bomber command from WW2)
samples of war graves
description of the projects and quick look at some of our pages
The talk was in the Town Hall so the backdrop was our own magnificent wooden roll of honour. Seemed to be pretty well received and I have had several suggestions to repeat the talk elsewhere.

Looks like it went well. A cold January night was never going to get a big crowd but if they have suggested more talks you must be doing the right thing.
Regards
