The Aberdeen Press and Journal of 15 July 1920 shows that the original memorial was in granite, unveiled at the Lodge Walk headquarters of Aberdeen City Police. In 1972 the Lodge Walk building was vacated by Aberdeen City Police, whose HQ moved to Queen Street at that time. What became of its granite WW1 memorial, i.e. whether it was moved to Queen Street or remained in situ at the old HQ in Lodge Walk, is currently unknown. The former HQ building in Lodge Walk was demolished c1973.
