This book " The British Linen Bank Staff War Memorial -1914-1918. It has a photo of the memorial to the memory of the members of the staff of the bank who gave their lives in the War 1914-1918 .
The memorial is placed in an arched recess in the south wall of the entrance hall of the Head Office of the Bank , St Andrews Square, Edinburgh. Sculptor was Mr C D'O Pilkington Jackson & architects Messrs Dick Peddie & Walker Todd , Edinburgh.
The book covers the unveiling ceremony on Tuesday 6 November 1923 by the Rt Hon The Earl of Roseberry , KG ,KT , Governor of the Bank.
It then gives the names inscribed on the Memorial . Only full names , no rank or awards or branch details . No photographs of any of the casualties either

For ranks, award, branch details etc - ask me.
I have been researching this memorial amongst others and recently unearthed a copy of the roll of men from the Bank who served - this was bundled amongst some other Linen Bank papers and even the HBOS archivists were unaware of its existance.
Unfortunately I was only able to note those who did not survive the war, but I can provide full details for any of the men listed.
It is my intention to publish a more detailed roll than that originally published some time in the future. |
