A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE CHAPEL

The memorial window in the south wall near the altar was erected in 1923 and is dedicated to david Bruce Waddell. He was at Coll from 1912 until 1915 and was killed in action on 21st march 1918 in France. He had only arrived at the front at the end of January. The virtues of Courage, Love and Wisdom are depicted in this window and personified by the stories of David and Goliath, St. Martin of Tours and David I of Scotland.

The window was designed by John Ninian Comper and carries the trademark signature of a strawberry in memory of his father who died suddenly in Duthie Park, Aberdeen while giving strawberries to poor children.
