Remembered by a stained glass window and plaque in Christ Church, the Episcopal church in Duns.

British forces lost 650 killed, wounded, captured in the Battle of Nooitgedacht, seemingly after bad preparations:

He's on the Boer War memorial at Dunbar, spelt "Cochran".
