Another of numerous members of the Swinton line who died in service.


Robert Bruce Swinton
Capt 1st Royal Berks Regt
Died 7th May 1904
"I believe in the Resurrection of the Dead"



Born 6th December 1864. Died at 'Inkerman' Barracks, Woking of illness.

Born in Madras in India in 1864, he was commissioned into the Royal Berkshire Regiment in 1886. He served in Egypt, Cyprus, Bermuda, Malta and at home. During the Boer War, he was seconded to the 3rd Royal West Sussex Regiment and was mentioned in dispatches twice. He was qualified as a Musketry and Signals instructor.
