|
The memorial to Gavin Maxwell is to him as an author and naturalist. However, during the Second World War he served with the Scots Guards, reaching the rank of Major, before transferring to the Special Operations Executive where he was a small arms instructor, being a crack shot. The memorial is on the cliff top above Kirkmaiden Chapel, the mausoleum of the Maxwell family, on a minor road leading to St Medan's Golf Club. A beautiful memorial in a beautiful setting.
