This memorial falls squarely into the grey area . Some will consider it a war memorial and others not. He was obviously a military man and died in service overseas. The memorial certainly has the appearance of a war memorial, and a very distinctive one at that.
No war or conflict at the place and time he died as far as I know and needless to say the memorial is not listed on UKNIWM, he is not listed on CWGC, nor is he listed on any other memorial as far as I know.
The memorial is inside Dryfesdale Parish church at OS Map Ref: NY 137 818

This is now WMR, ex UKNIWM, memorial 63578.
To me this is not particularly a grey area, I think it's pretty clearly a war memorial |
