From time to time we have things to post which are not war memorials but are likely to be of interest to at least some of the members. I am thinking of the following and similar:
1. Memorials for victims of the sinking of the Titanic (I have photos of 2 memorials)
2. Appreciation certificates for those who served and survived
3. Church fittings, windows etc that are interesting or exceptional but not strictly war memorials.
Could we have an off-topic area? perhaps restricted to members with a minimum number of posts? or post them here? or should we be more strict and keep such things off the forum altogether?

I really don't want an off-topic section. I've seen it on far too many forums that the off-topic section gets filled with complete and utter nonsense which, in my opinion, detracts from what this forum is about.
I appreciate and understand what you're talking about with what you'd like to post (and I personally would be slightly interested in Titanic memorials) but I'm very reluctant to go down that route.
Sorry, but this forum will remain strictly for discussion of war memorials. For off-topic, you'll have to go off-forum... |

I agree with David. If we start to stray off-topic it may be a slippery slope. As its stands I think this forum is very good at staying pretty much on the subject.
I know what you mean though Spoons because sometimes I see monuments and memorials and I'm pretty sure others would be interested but this isn't the forum for that sort of thing.
We are already pretty flexible in something like the sculptors topic but I am against a dedicated off-topic section.
