Named on Glasgow High School War Memorial as dying in 1918. Also on Glasgow Royal Infirmary as a Resident Assistant, "Invalided Home from Egypt and Died 11th November 1918." Also in the University of Glasgow Memorial Chapel and the University's Roll of Honour provides some useful biography: https://universitystory.gla.ac.uk/ww1-biography/?id=3261 According to that he married in Huddersfield and soon after received a Commission as Lieutenant. By 1918 he was a Captain in the eastern theatre but was invalided home. His condition worsened on the way home and he died on 11 November 1918 shortly after his return home.
A check of deaths on Ancestry confirms the death of a Daniel Stewart, correct age, in Huddersfield in the final quarter of 1918. This could well be him and I will approach Kirklees Council for a copy of the DC. |
