None of my own photos but here is an entry from "Bomber Command Losses Volume 7" by W R Chorley.
19 OTU, Anson I DJ106, Training
Sgt J Llewellyn
F/S G FILLINGHAM
P/O W GILMOUR RCAF
F/S K E CARRUTHERS
SGT J B ROBERTSON
T/o Kinloss for a navigation exercise. This ended in tragedy when the Anson flew into Ben Macdui (4,296 feet above sea level) in the Cairngorms some 10 miles or so SE of Aviemore. Three rest in Kinloss Abbey Burial Ground, Sgt Llewelly is buried in Wales at Garnant (Old Bethel) Welsh Congregationalist Chapelyard, Llandilofawr, while F/S Carruthers lies in Windermere (St. Mary's) Cemetery. The wreckage of their aircraft was found on 24 August and reported to Kinloss by the Royal Observer Corps, but it was nearly midnight on 27 August before all bodies had been brought back to base.
See here for photos of the crash site and you can just make out the memorial in one of the pics. http://www.edwardboyle.com/wreck13.html
I think this is the second highest mountain in Scotland and the wreck is near the top so it is a good contender for being the highest war memorial in Scotland.

Isn't there a memorial at the top of Ben Nevis? |

Oh dear, so there is and I knew that because I have been there and I think I might have some photos somewhere so I need to dig them out and make a new post.
