|
The church was located at 5 Pollok Street (off Paisley Road).
Began at a meeting of local people on 12th January 1852. In the July number of the denominational magazine for the year 1855 there appeared a paragraph stating that a church was in course of erection at Pollok Street “on Govan Road near the suburban village of Pollokshields.” Nothing further emerged till November when a petition was presented to the U P Presbytery asking to be formed into a congregation. This was granted and the congregation became Pollok Street United Presbyterian Church, later to be Pollok Street United Free Church. The Church was dedicated on 16th March 1856.
The church was terminated on 15th June 1975 on uniting with Plantation Church as Plantation St Andrew’s. Now part of KINNING PARK CHURCH.
Extracted from the In Memoriam Book located in Kinning Park Church, Eaglesham Place, Glasgow G51 1PS
