The British Geological Survey have an interesting exhibition at their HQ at Keyworth, Notts, about the role of BGS and its employees in WW1. Currently BGS have offices in Scotland in Edinburgh and Dumfries& Galloway; at the time of the war the Survey's Scottish office was based at 33 George Square, Edinburgh. For those who can't get to Keyworth the panels used in the exhibition can be viewed on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10153802338540118&type=3&l=a3ae481e9e
I am not sure whether any of those on the Roll of Honour were Scots or based in Scotland but one man did serve with the KOSB. |
