In Dumfries & Standard on Page 11 on 11.2.2015 Article regarding - Former Townhead Church, Dumfries (built 1867) at the corner of Dumfries Lovers Walk and Academy St., ( note photo seen on church site from Ian McClumpha)
The article states that "from 1918 to 1953 registers show a hall owned by United Free Church and during this time a war memorial in the form of an organ screen was erected in this building (nothing to say for which wars)
This screen now in St, Michaels Church. Since 1961 church was dining hall for Dumfries Academy and closed down in 2012. Now in 2015 busy making building into 'The usual Place' refer to www.theusualplace.org for further details"
So when I can manage shall pop over to St. Michaels and look out for this screen.

Teddy - there is a photo and details of this memorial at
http://warmemscot.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=1056
but it would be good to know that it has remained in place during the changes to this location. _________________ Ken |
