And I'm glad you did paul. We can now compare the renovated front panel with earlier photos already posted. What a difference, it looks great now.
I wonder how long it will be until some of the rifles and bayonets start to go missing though?

I had heard that the bayonets were not being replaced. I'm glad to see that they have after what I believe was nearly 100 years. |

I think more than 100, earlier in the thread someone said they were broken off in 1906.
Sorry I didn't get the other inscription plaque by the way, the area was coned off for roadworks and I didn't fancy standing in the middle of the road any longer.

That's a great site. I like the "before and after" shots. It's amazing how much detail was obscured by age. |
