Gents

You should have received an e-mail sent out to all members on 14th September last year.

We will shortly be sending out another one, we don't intend having them more regular than twice a year, September and March, since most of our news is updated here. If you didn't get it please let me know and we'll double check the e-mail you've given us.

We do this in our spare time and don't ask for subs so to keep admin down we do not reply to applications. This is something we will discuss with the committee if it is something the members would wish.

Thanks for the feedback.

Regards

Adam

Adam - can I suggest that a brief note that an e-mail has been sent could be posted in the SMRG - Members Area thread, then we will know when to look out for your update.

Well as an Office Bearer of the SMRG and the Techonology Co-ordinator I'd have been really worried if you hadn't. Wink

Just a thought, but if emails have 5 or more addressees then some spam filters will pick this up and deal with the mail as spam.

I reported elsewhere mail from this site (scottishwarmemorials@hotmail.co.uk ) now being classed as Spam by my filter, despite me making no changes at my end. It is still happening. The message is not lost though, it ends up in my Spam folder. I suspect most of us check the spam / junk folder from time to time.

It depends on your email system but if you add scottishwarmemorials@hotmail.co.uk to your contacts, it should stop mails being classed as spam.

The SMRG update mail was sent from Adam's personal email address so you would have to add that as well.

Adam

I would not expect you to post a personal address here, I wouldn't post mine. I already have it if your reply was directed to me.

I am well aquanted with spam filters and bypassing them but the point I raised is being missed - Why is that address now, all of a sudden being classed, as Spam? I'd be slightly concerned if it was my address. I see no point in writing more on the subject.

Jim, I think you are missing the point here. It is YOUR system which is classing the address as spam. Mine and others are not so something is wrong with your systems, not Adam's email.

Paul

My system is a 3rd party one which relies on a worldwide " spam " database which is not of my creation. It appears that address is now on it, whereas, it was presumably not there before. This all came about during the time of recent site problems, so I related the issue at that time.

This thread has strayed from its original intentions.

If you want to know the current news on the SMRG, or want a copy of the newsletter sent out today, then please feel free to sign up as a member. Details from our website.

If you're having problems with your email spam filter...then speak to your IT department.

If you want a recipe for scotch pancakes then there's a more suitable website for that.

I think this thread has come to a close.
