An unusual form of commemoration: this man, not on a local memorial, is remembered by a communion flagon. Normally stored in safekeeping, my thanks to the session clerk for bringing it out for me to see.

Thusfar his actual connection to Westruther looks elusive.

Westruther Parish Church was scheduled to close at the end of August.

Due to national emergency there has instead been no services since March.

There is now a service of closure on Sunday coming (13th September).

Flagon will likely pass to whichever adjacent parish Westruther is united with.

Westruther parish was dissolved and territory united to Gordon.
