The Strichen Parish church STRICHEN , ABERDEENSHIRE is Church of Scotland and it has a 1914 -1918 war memorial
The war memorial records this wording :
To the Glory of God and in Pious Appreciation of the Valour and Sacrifices of Men connected with this church who fought in the Service of their King and Country and in the cause of Liberty righteousness and humanity in the Great War 1914 -1918 This Tablet is consecrated .
There are Three long Sectional lists of parishoners and these lists men who went to war , killed /died , wounded .
Strichen parish war memorial by Rev Richard Goodwillie 1920 and a copy of this is in Fraserburgh Library
The Memorial tablet is at least 8 foot in height and made of Granite. The Tablet was donated by banker's wife MRS CHARLOTTE YOUNG . It was initially installed in the OLD PARISH CHURCH STRICHEN which was mothballed in the 1960s . The War Memorial tablet was moved to the Present Parish kirk in Strichen which is the former Free Church of Scotland .
My info comes from my historian friend , Fraser Mitchell of Strichen .
