The memorial is in front of St Andrews Church, Garscadden Road, Drumchapel.

It is a Celtic cross with wheel on a block and stepped pedestal. The cross has no ornamentation other than relief edging.

Interesting indeed Ken, as that gives four locations for his birth:

Buckhaven and Methil (given as place of birth in the Census, SDGW and the roll of honour) in Fife - both are next to each other so a Methil birth could I suppose be registered in Buckhaven.

Drumchapel (CWGC) is between Bearsden and Clydebank but Rhu is miles away, west of Helensburgh.

Very confusing.

Two foreign service battalions were already undergoing training and recruiting for a reserve battalion was attracting considerable attention.
