The memorial is in front of St Andrews Church, Garscadden Road, Drumchapel.

It is a Celtic cross with wheel on a block and stepped pedestal. The cross has no ornamentation other than relief edging.

Recruiting for the 7th. (Blythswood) (Territorial) Battalion, Highland Light Infantry took place at its headquarters, 69 Main Street, Bridgeton, and were said to be "brisk" in early November, 1914. Two foreign service battalions were already undergoing training and recruiting for a reserve battalion was attracting considerable attention.
