I have seen a posting from Kenneth MORRISON on this forum and cannot seem to find a way to ask him a question. He quotes quite a bit about one Joseph CONNELLY from Bridge of Dee who died of wounds France 13th September 1918 but I am researching this soldier and cannot find any of what Kenneth quotes on this man in any soldier records or on line and the memorials to him in Balmagie only show his name, regiment ( Queens Royal West Surrey) and date of death and I am curious as to where this information came from. can anyone help please . Judy ( jbs@techmarketing.co.uk)

Judy is from the Aston History Group in Oxfordshire (used to be Berkshire) and has provided some brilliant detail on Wee Joe Connelly of Bridge of Dee, near Castle Douglas. This is actually inscribed on his grave stone - see the headstone schedule on CWGC at http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/25100/CONNELLY,%20JOE

I have updated Joe's details on the Balmaghie thread.

“Wee Joe” was a jockey living and working in the twin villages of Aston Tirrold and Aston Upthorpe near Didcot in Berkshire (now Oxfordshire) when he enlisted March 1918 originally in the 2/4th Royal Berkshire Regiment.
