Airdrie Academy
South Commonhead Avenue
Airdrie
ML6 6NX
The school moved into new, purpose built accommodation in October 2006.
Phase 2 of the construction project was completed in December 2007.

The World War 1 Memorial was brought to the new school and mounted on the gymnasium hall. The memorial is very large.

There is no World War 2 Memorial as such but there is, in a cabinet, a Roll of Honour Booklet.
I plan to contact the school and ask permission to photograph the pages which, I hope, they will agree to let me do this.

The book "Airdrie: A Historical Sketch" lists all those who fell in the First world War. the address for Agnes McDonald is given as 36 Milton Street. A William McDonald is also listed for that address.

I also have a document which contains a fair amount of research for Airdrie Academy. For Agnes it lists:

"Staff Nurse, Queen Mary's Nurses. Killed in Zeppelin Air Raid, London, 1917".

As a civilian nurse she would not have been accorded commemoration by the CWGC.
