TROOPER THOMAS R. MILNE.

Named on the Dalry War Memorial in Kirkcudbrightshire as:

PTE. THOMAS R. MILNE, LANARK YEO.
Thomas Rankin Milne – age 34 – Private ( 295938) 12th (Ayr and Lanark) Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers.
Thomas was employed as a gamekeeper to Mr. Forbes at Earlston, Dalry and lived at Barlae House when he enlisted in the Lanarkshire Yeomanry. The regiment merged with the Ayrshire Yeomanry in Egypt to form the 12th (Ayr and Lanark) Battalion of the Royal Scots Fusiliers on 4 January 1917.
Born 1883 South Shields, County Durham. Son of the late Elizabeth (Dickie) Milne and of David Stephen Milne of Pitfour, Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire. Husband of Janet (Smith) Milne of Coltness Mains, Wishaw, Lanarkshire who he married in 1907 in Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire.
Died of Wounds on 6 May 1917 and buried in Deir El Belah War Cemetery, Palestine.
Also named on the Cambusnethan Parish War Memorial in Newmains.

Also Saplin Brae, Pitfour, Mintlaw. Husband of Janet (Smith) Milne of Coltness Mains, Wishaw, Lanarkshire who he married in 1907 in Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire. Occ: employed as a gamekeeper to Mr. Forbes at Earlston, Dalry and lived at Barlae House when he enlisted in the Lanarkshire Yeomanry. Soldiers Effects: Wid: Janet. Service Returns: 123/AF 300.
