Hi,

Can I ask for some help if you have access to the British Newspaper Archives?

I would be interested if any information can be found in the Stiriling Observer for September 1918 on Pvt TR1/31828 John Livingstone 53rd Battalion Gordon Highlanders who died in Stirling Royal Infirmary on the 14th September 1918.

Kind Regards,
Alex

Alex,

I could find no reference to his death in the Stirling Observer.

Derek.

Alex - sorry, I missed your Q&R.

In 1901 at 12 Easter Street, Duns, Berwickshire were
John Livingston 25 (house painter) Jessie Livingston 22, Benjamin J Beattie 7 (step-son) Margaret W Livingston 2 and John Livingston 9 Month.

Benjamin 17 is still in Duns in 1911 but I cannot trace the other family members.

However Jessie Livingstone (formerly Beattie - m.s. Bryce) died in 1903 in Dennistoun, Glasgow. All these names are on John's death certificate.

So his name could appear in any number of newspapers

Crying or Very sad

Hi Kenneth,

Thanks for this information, I now know which John.

Could you be so kind to share the cause of his death?

Rgds,

Sorry Alex I had assumed you already had it Embarassed

Cause of Death was General Septicemia.

Just to be complete:

John Livingstone, Carter, (Private 53rd YS Gordon Highlanders) (Single)
1918, September, Fourteenth, 3h 30m AM. Royal Infirmary, Stirling.
(Us. Res. Hillend, Inverkeithing.

M. 18years. Father James Livingstone, Painter and Decorator. Mother Jessie Livingstone, previously Beattie. M.S. Bryce. (deceased)

Registered by John Dick, House Surgeon, Royal Infirmary, Stirling.

I think Hillend was a military camp.
