Death Certificate states: 18 Feb 1919 at the University War Hospital, Southampton. David McKie, aged 24, Private in the 2/3 London Field Ambulance No 13102. Cause of Death: 1. Influenza, 10 days. 2 Broncho-pneumonia (double) 9 days.

I guess the problem with this one is that, though there is a Medal Index Card and a Register of Effects entry, we can't tell from those whether he was still a serving soldier. However there is a Pension Ledger Card on Fold 3.

On the other hand there is nothing to indicate that he had been discharged!

Well worth a try I think.
The Pension card details should help.

The register of soldiers effects notes the disposal of his final Pay and allowances for soldiers who died whilst serving. If he was discharged, then his Pay account would have been finalized at that time and there would be no entry in the register of soldiers' effects. I believe therefore that he died whilst still in service.

Thanks chaps, I'll see what Terry has to say about this one. Nice for the old D&G alliance to spring into action!

Terry has forwarded him to CWGC but makes the comment: "Again, the evidence is lacking the normal level (ie no service or full pension record). However, everything points to a service death so we will progress him.

Note that the Effects Register is not reliable as to whether the man was serving or discharged. The entries for many discharged men are not marked ‘died after discharge’ as most are."
