Poor lighting=very poor photograph I'm afraid. Here's the inscription transcribed

Midshipman R.N. Aged 18
Killed in the Battle of Jutland
31st May 1916 and buried at sea
Here is his CWGC entry. Note his date of death here is one day later - 1st June 1916. No clues to any Edinburgh connections either.
