|
Not listed on UKNIWM
Location in Johnston School, Kirkcudbright at OS Map Ref NX 687 513
A replacement school is currently under construction and due to open early in 2010. I hope the memorial will find its way safely to the new building.
Note that although this is titled Roll of Honour it contains only names of those who died. The inscription reads - "In memory of the above who fell in the Great War".
Presented by Mrs Emerson Leeds
The memorial is briefly mentioned in the Scotsman article of 16th April 1921.

Following the closure of this school, this memorial has now been passed into the care of the Stewartry Museum, Kirkcudbright. Confirmed by the curator Mr David Devereux.

Confirmed that the memorial is in the Stewartry museum. It is not on display but is available for viewing on request. There are no plans to move it elsewhere.
