I don't know if you are aware of 'homecoming scotland 2009' but you can see details here:
http://www.homecomingscotland.com/default.html
It is planned as a whole series of events throughout the year to get those from overseas with Scottish ancestry to return to the homeland to trace their roots etc.
I am sure we could/should be in there somewhere. Any plans?

There is an Ancestry bit on the website but I can't see much detail about what that involves?

It seems to be just the bare bones at the moment, but if you search through the regions you can see some of the events already planned.

I think it would be good for us and the aims of the event if we could attend, depending of course on what the costs would be. I would be willing to do my bit (eg for a couple of the days) but I won't be able to confirm availability for a month or so yet.

Raising the profile of the site would be fantastic, if there is anything I can
do on the poster side let me know, my mate owns a printers place and
owes me a big favour.

I'll discuss it with Adam. The downside is that it's during the week, which would involve me taking time off work. I believe it would be the same for him.
But we'll discuss it and get back to you. |

We (as The Scottish Military Research Group) will be attending the Family History Fair and SAFHS conference in Aberdeen on 25th April 2009.
There a number of other similar Family History Fairs during the year and I have contacted them for details on attending as an exhibitor.
Fairs like this are an ideal way of publicising the resources we have available, both here, and as a collection of individuials with all the specialist knowledge we possess.
Any assistance any forum members might be able to give us at these fairs will be gratefully received. Contact myself or Adam to let us know if you can help at all. |

As I'm more or less "self employed", in that I choose when I work, I would be willing to get involved if needed, as I can get time off work during the week if required.
