Situated on the B803 (Greengairs Road), Greengairs, near Airdrie
Map Reference: NS 783 704
Erected by The Inhabitants of Greengairs and District to their Fellow Parishioners
Who fell in the Great War, August 1914 - November 1918
Should this be a 'Church Memorial'? It's situated outside Greengairs Parish Church and the inscription would infer that it comemmorates 'Parishoners'.

I'd say if they'd used the word 'congregation' it would definitely be a church memorial. using 'Parishioners' is enough for me to say this should be classed as civic unless we find out otherwise.

I would have to agree with Adam on this.
Men of this Parish or similar is a very common detail in WW1 memorial inscriptions throughout Scotland. They are some of the male parishioners and may well include men of all faiths, and none. _________________ Jim
