UKNIWM – Not Listed

In Glasgow Cathedral OS Map Ref NS 590 650

To my eye this memorial seems very out of place inside the cathedral so I'm pretty sure that it stood outside at some time or another, but where? It also shows signs of weathering near the base so the main inscription is difficult to read.

This cross is erected by the officers, warrant officers, non commissioned officers and men of 2nd Battalion Highland Light Infantry.
In memoriam of their comrades who died whilst serving with the colours of the Battalion during its tour of India and Ceylon ???? to ????

That was my first impresssion too. Could it have come back from India after 1947? Or how about from a closed barracks in Scotland. The HLI were in Hamilton and later Maryhill Barracks and both are now closed.
