Can anyone tell me anything about Peter McRobert
There is only one man of this name listed in the usual places
CWGC
McROBERT, PETER
Lance Corporal, 23695, 6th Bn. King's Own Scottish Borderers
Date of Death: 16/12/1917
Cemetery: HEUDICOURT COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION, SOMME, FRANCE.
SNWM
McROBERT, PETER
Pte. 23695, 6th KOSB
Place of birth: Tundergarth Dumfries
Date of death:16 December 1917
Theatre of death: F&F
Cause of death: Killed in action
SDGW
Born: Tundergarth, Dumfries. Resident: Ettrick, Selkirk. Enlisted Galashiels Selkirk.
Peter (6) and his family were at White Knowe in Hutton, Dumfriesshire in 1901 and he is named on the Hutton & Corrie Parish War Memorial as
L/CPL. PETER McROBERT, K.O.S.B. FRANCE 1917.
but on the Ettrick Parish War Memorial as
L.CORPl. PETER McROBERT, A.&.S. HIGHLANDERS.
I cannot find anything else about him here in D&G or in the Borders. Help!
(I've also posted this on the Ettrick thread)
UPDATE: Found him!
Peter was a shepherd at Potburn, Ettrick, Selkirkshire when he enlisted in May 1916.
Still don't know why he is A&SH at Ettrick, so I'll leave that "live" _________________ Ken |
