This memorial is mounted on the wall of Denholm Village Hall. Like many of these things, it is behind glass and reflections are a problem. It looks like all of the village men who served are on the scroll - those who died are shown with a cross next to the name and the wounded have a circle next to theirs.

Amazing.
I lived in Denholm for a couple of years but never spied this memorial.
Thomas and James Crawford, featured on the pic were my Granny's cousins, James killed at Loos and Thomas killed on the Somme. _________________

One possibility is that the 'Reading and Recreation Rooms' may have been elsewhere in Denholm and some kind person has rescued this board and set it up in the village hall. |

The public hall was opened in September, 1921.
This wooden building had been used by the Y.M.C.A. at Stobs Camp and was sold to the Denholm inhabitants for £100. This was located at the west end of Main Street.
The lower part of the East bleaching green at the foot of the Loaning was leased in the 1920s to the comrades of the Great War and it was known as the "Comrades Hall".
Neither building still survives but the former was used as a reading room so I would guess that this housed the above memorial. _________________

My thanks to Kay Laing for allowing me access to the hall.
