from 2pm to 8pm daily, a display of old photographs and records. The exhibition organiser is Bill Holland, former minister of the parish and he is very knowledgeable about the history of the churches and war memorials of the parish. Included in the display are a transcription of all memorials, an actual Roll of Honour and a previously unknown Oddfellows Roll of Honour which is now held privately - this may be your only chance to see it!
Location is New Abbey Village Hall, right next to Sweetheart Abbey. |

It was well worth the trip to see this exhibition run by the enthusiastic former minister of the church. I photographed 2 memorials that I suspected existed but had not got around to, had the existance of a third memorial confirmed and was given contact details but best of all I saw and photographed an Oddfellows Roll of Honour, now in private hands. I would never have known of this memorial without the exhibition. |
