This church sits on South Street in the town and is the historic parish church of St Andrews. It contains many military memorials of both World Wars and individuals.

This is the most remarkable memorial I have ever seen. It is a solid silver book with the names of the fallen inscribed on its solid silver pages. It used to sit in an alcove on public display but is now kept securely under lock and key.
This is the stained glass window from the above alcove.
The alcove is in the Memorial Aisle, the Communion Table and furniture are also part of the Memorial.

A silver roll of honour! That must be unique.
Many thanks for getting it photographed.

|
|
Clerestory windows are small windows high in a wall between two rooflines. In older churches they were designed to give extra light to the body of the Church.
After the First World War these windows were redesigned in stained glass to show the badges of the Scottish regiments and other branches of the British Forces. This was done as part of the memorial to the Fallen of the First World War.
Because they are so high and not easily viewable, an illustrated book has been placed in the church.
