Location: on the corner of Whitehall Court and Whitehall Place
OS Ref: TQ 302 802
Latitude: 51:30:22N (51.50606)
Longitude: 0:07:28W (-0.12454)

This memorial isn't specifically Scottish but many Scots have served in the Heavy Branch of the MGC, RTC and RTR over the years so I think the inclusion of this memorial can be justified.
I was surprised to come across it because I was walking along a back street in Whitehall and not the main road. I think the RTR have been short-changed by this location opposite Old Scotland Yard. There may well be a reason this spot was chosen but given the Women of WW2 memorial has been unveiled recently on the main road through Whitehall I feel this one should have got a more prominent location.
The memorial is reminiscent of the Commando memorial at Spean Bridge but it shows the five crewmen of a Comet Tank from 1945. Commander, Gunner, Loader, Hull Machine-gunner and Driver
It was sculpted by Vivien Mallock but based on a miniature maquette of a five-man Comet tank crew crafted by George Henry Paulin. It was unveiled by The Queen on 13th June 2000.
The inscription on the base says "From Mud, through blood to the Green Fields Beyond" which is a well known phrase associated with the regiment.

Thank you for posting this, I didn't know it existed. My Great Uncle was in 1 RTR and was killed on 24 Apr 1918 in the first ever tank versus tank battle. No connection with Scotland though.
