Nothing found to support Alfred Brighton, James Bennet or Angus McNaughton Gow having been awarded the M.M.
290098 William Caskie was awarded the MM in November 1916 as T.F. no. 8931
10576 William Gordon was awarded the MM in October 1916
21503 James Milroy Bennett was awarded the MSM in January 1917 with the 12th West Riding Regt.
19432 William Henry Hogg was awarded the M.M. in November 1917. I found he was awarded the Croix de Geurre by the King of the Belgians in July 1918
1270 Alexr. Russell 1st/6th Gordoins was awarded the DCM in Sept 1916 and MM in March 1917.
He is recorded on the Rothiemay memorial. As common, the decorations are not listed. _________________ Jim

Good searching skills Jim. I've found a few more I have got the gazette entry for and sent them in.

Just to recap.
Not including those in this thread confirmed by Kinnethmonts research in the London Gazette, I have found a further 30 cases of CWGC entries without the M.M. listed, which have been forwarded to be amended.
I imagine as it was the duty of the n.o.k. there must be hundreds without this detail in the debt of honour register sadly.

Derek
17003 William Kent awarded MM August 1916 with KOSB
305102 Charles Abson awarded MM March 1919 with Tank Corps
Will forward records to CWGC.

To clarify again, it was not the duty of NOK to inform awards. The information should have been forwarded by the relevant authority.
However, if this did not happen, as was the case with those you have found (bearing in mind the MM was a fairly common award ) the NOK had the opportunity to correct the CWGC record when they verified it for the register and headstone. They were specifically asked about Military Honours. Some did not bother to add to the basic details already provided, a considerable number were not returned for a variety of reasons. _________________ Jim
