The Kirkcaldy and Dysart Roll of Honour book mentions a memorial plaque in Abotshall Parish Church.
According to the website below, the Church merged with Raith Parish Church in 1964.
One of the photos shows what appears to be several plaques on the wall.

Abbotshall pictures are on, both WW1 and WW2, but put them on under CIVIC memorials instead of CHURCH. What is best way to move them?
Thanks to Andrew Duncan for the photo.

In 1919 was Abbotshall a seperate parish to Kirkcaldy? It depends if this memorial is strictly for the congregation or if this was the memorial for the parish held within the church?

By 1919 Abbotshall was subsumed into Kirkcaldy. I checked some names on
Abbotshall WM and they are also on Kirkcaldy WM. |

Pleased to see this, as this is the family church of one side of my family.
Two family members are on the Kirkcaldy civic memorial, but not here.
(Conceivably they were living elsewhere in Kirkcaldy or weren't CofS).
Abbotshall was disjoined from Kirkcaldy in 1650, but for its administrative purposes was (re)incorporated in the burgh in 1876.
A chapel-of-ease opened in 1836 becoming Invertiel parish (quoad sacra) on 19th July 1869 - with territory allocated from Kinghorn and Abbotshall. It united with Bethelfield on 8th January 1991 to form Linktown.
(Invertiel had earlier united with, confusingly, Invertiel [ex-United Free]).
A chapel-of-ease opened in 1875 becoming Raith parish (quaod sacra) on 25th February 1884. It united with Abbotshall on 2nd February 1964 under the Abbotshall name.
Memorial isn't mentioned in "Church & Parish of Abbotshall 1650-1975".
Given the Christogram presumably it's a church plaque = congregational? |

The person I spoke to was sure this plaque related to Abbotshall Church of Scotland for WW1. Although plaques relating to Raith church are in this building they are on another thread. There is also an Abbotshall UF plaque which is is another church. What were the names you were looking for? |
