Dunno about the rifleman bit, but he's there under a varient spelling of Murphy. He was 31 years old according to the War Return, which only states "Shot by sentence of field general court martial".

David
According to Julian Putkowski's book this is William Murphey, who joined 5/6 Royal Scots on on 29 December 1916, and deserted seven days later.

McLean Street is in the Kinning Park district of Glasgow.
It is just off Paisley Road West.

Do you have access to Ancestry? I'd like to know the district used. _________________ Researching WWI info from Aberdeenshire, Banffshire, Kincardineshire & Morayshire. |

Glasgow district 'boundaries' have changed a bit over the years. It's not so long ago Govan extended into what we now call Partick.
WWI era, bits of Kinning Park might have been Plantation or Tradeston or .......... |

Anne - what paperwork are you refering to, please?
The Glasgow RoH gives for Evan Fraser, Royal Scots, an address of 148 McLean Street, Plantation.
During the period of WW1 it would have been in the Burgh of Govan.
For a bit of history about MacLean and Plantation see:
