|
|
I have been merrily adding to and updating the Dumfries and Galloway list as I post and find new memorials, but today I have found a serious problem. I have lost the last half of the 'Other' list. This is the final section so I immediately suspected that the post was being truncated.
By some careful experimentation I found that I have reached some sort of maximum limit for the post and each time I add a new entry, another one gets 'pushed off the end' and lost. Disaster!! - I don't have this info anywhere else, do the mods have any backup of this section - say 4 weeks old or more? I presume not.
Fortunately, the second post on this thread is mine so my fix is to move 'other' (and probably the section before as well) into the beginning of the first reply to the post and keep an eye on it.
Obviously the memorials that have already posted can be added back and the list reconstructed, but what about any that had not yet been collected? Any after Dumfries Cornets club in the 'other' section, that have not already been posted, are now lost from my list. Anyone have a backup or any suggestions how I can get these back?
I remember there was the Garlieston Mulberry Harbour trials (collected today) and the Loch Skerrow Typhoon crash but there may have been up to half a dozen more at a rough guess.

BTW - anyone else who has long lists should keep an eye on them (I recommend checking the last entry after every update).

That's NOT good.
Any idea what sort of maximum size was exceeded? _________________

Thanks Adam, please just copy the 'other' section and send in an email - I can take care of it from there. After I have this sorted I think I will be taking my own copies from now on

I got this info from copy and paste into Word then used tools/Word Count.
The first is Dumfries and Galloway, the second is Borders for comparison and the third is Dumfries and Galloway again but this time copied from the edit screen. Circumstantially I think it is a limit on the amount of data (from the edit screen) of either 450 lines or 60K in bytes.
I don't really know which are the biggest lists, but I am guessing that Dumfries and Galloway is largest and Borders is next.
Can someone find out from the forum hosting help people what the limit is and if it can be increased?
