Henry Drummond Church
The church was located in Allander Street at Barloch Street, Possilpark.
It began as the outcome of a mission conducted by Renfield Free Church in Possilpark around 1870. Regular services were initiated in 1878 under the leadership of Professor Henry Drummond. The charge was sanctioned in 1891 and became Possil Park Free Church, adopting later the name of Henry Drummond Memorial Free Church, and, on 11th August 1931, of Henry Drummond United Free Church.
Services were terminated on 8th June 1967 on uniting with Trinity Possil as TRINITY POSSIL AND HENRY DRUMMOND.
The church, which was built in 1881, is now demolished.

I was interested in the name of this church as Henry Drummond was born in Stirling. Two of his nephews, cousins Henry Claude Drummond and Patrick Campbell Drummond, were killed in WW1; their names appear on the Stirling war memorial and on the memorial within St Columba's Church which, like this one, used to be part of the Free Church. |
