Wigtownshire Free Press (6/4/1916): The following letter has been received by Mr David Conn, schoolmaster, Colmonell, in answer to an enquiry made through the British Red Cross for information concerning Corporal Andrew Rennie who has not been heard of since the Battle of Loos.
"In answer to your enquiry, we fear that the only report which we have received up to present states that Arthur Ray, stretcher bearer, of A Coy, 8th Gordon Highlanders, told our informant that Rennie was killed. This information is not very definite, but we are continuing our enquiries on your behalf, and we are also searching the prisoners' lists from Germany in case by any chance Rennie may be a prisoner, and should we succeed in hearing anything further, we will immediately communicate with you." |
