A friend of mine has brought this story to my attention as she found the story in this weeks MONTROSE REVIEW Thursday 3 Sept 2015 :
Sunnyside Royal Hospital outside of Montrose was closed a short time ago ( 4 years or so ago ) and the hospital is for sale and demolition and the GREAT WAR memorial in the grounds is at risk said a Montrose Review reader . It was the Sunnyside Asylum
THE WAR MEMORIAL is in stone with the names of the staff who fell in action in the Great War 1914/18
The stone memorial records ONLY :
1914/18
W.M BROWN
J DALGETTY
D FINDLAY
T FOREMAN
A MACINTOSH
W MILNE
F RITCHIE
W ROSS
Fell on active service
The Montrose Review shows the story and a photograph of the War Memorial in stone with the names listed thereon on the website for 3 September 2015

I emailed Montrose Councillor BILL DUFF yesterday evening and he replied shortly after with this excellent update :
Pert-Bruce who are the developer has REFURBISHED the MEMORIAL which lies within the site and invited the British Legion to lay a Floral Memorial on Remembrance Sunday a couple of years ago.
A PRESENT, the site is CLOSED to the public on HEALTH AND SAFETY GROUNDS while the contractor does certain demolition works , but their intention is that the site will become accessible to the Public as it was before .
Hope this information is useful and REASSURES You that the MEMORIAL has been looked after and will become accessible once the site is RE OPENED ..
Regards
Bill (Duff Montrose and District Councillor )
Sounds good
