In the City & County of Perth Roll of Honour (Golden Book) appears;
Angus, John, 2nd Officer, Mercantile Marines.
Recent research has shown this man to have been a crew member of S.S. "Meaford".
MEAFORD was lost on March 27, 1918 whilst en route from Bougie to Belfast via Gibraltar with a cargo of phosphate. She was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-53 (Hans Rose) in the Atlantic. She was originally reported as missing and was lost with all hands.
After several e-mails with Terry Denham a case has this date been forwarded to the relevant authorities for consideration.
